The ruler of Abu Dhabi built the Al-Hosn Palace in the late nineteenth century, which actually makes it just about the oldest building in the city by some margin. Compared to the modern skyscrapers that have erupted across the city in the last thirty years, this traditional Arabian structure is something of a contrast.
The building is used as offices, and as an overflow archive for the Cultural Foundation nearby, but it still makes for a stunning backdrop for a photograph, and walking around the outside of the palace gives an insight into the past.
