The Volcano fountain is one of the most famous landmarks in Abu Dhabi. Lying right on the seafront, the fountain is at its most spectacular at night, when the lighting effects in the water create the impression of a dramatic volcanic eruption.
Crowds of people throng the area around the fountain each evening, and there are food stalls around where you can pick up some Tabouleh or Hummus as well as many other tasty snacks. An interesting fact about the Volcano Fountain, which is often overlooked, is that like most of the water features across Abu Dhabi - and there are many, it is a scaled up model of some traditional Arabic item, in this case, an incense burner. There are also many coffee pots that pour eternally, and a number of Oryx dotted around the city.
